Alert: Lane Reduction along Harbor Drive from February - May 2023 (Posted 02/06/2023)
Starting Monday, February 6, crews will reduce traffic to one lane along Harbor Drive between Cesar Chavez Parkway and Sampson Street. The closure will last until May 2023 and provide crews with the needed space to begin construction on the east shoulder of Harbor Drive.
Please note that in order to complete this work, crews will also place “No Parking” notices along Harbor Drive between Cesar Chavez Parkway and Belt Street. Crews will minimize impacts as much as possible. Please use caution when traveling.

Night Work: Lane Reductions on Harbor Drive at Chollas Creek Bridge 9/25 – 9/29
Beginning Sunday, September 25, and continuing through Thursday, September 29, crews will complete night work to remove an abandoned fuel line from the work site. Harbor Drive will be reduced to one lane over the Chollas Creek Bridge north of 32nd Street in both directions. Work hours are from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. each day. Please use caution when traveling in this area.

Bayshore Bikeway – Barrio Logan Segment Alternative Bike Route
SANDAG recently installed traffic control signage to provide people biking a choice to use an alternative temporary route around the active construction areas on Harbor Drive between Cesar Chavez Parkway and 28th Street where crews are currently working to construct the Bayshore Bikeway – Barrio Logan Segment.

Bayshore Bikeway – Barrio Logan Segment construction to begin in May 2022:
Postcards in English and en Español were mailed to more than 4,500 homeowners, residents, and businesses surrounding the Bayshore Bikeway – Barrio Logan Segment project corridor to provide notice regarding the start of construction during the week of May 16, 2022.

CEQA Exemption Approved for Barrio Logan Segment
The SANDAG Transportation Committee approved the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) exemption for this segment on April 21, 2017. The preferred alignment study was completed in 2015. The project is currently in the final design phase and staff is working to obtain required permits for the project, including approval under the National Environmental Policy Act. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2019.

Final Mitigated Negative Declaration for Segment 8B
SANDAG, as lead agency under the California Environmental Quality Act, prepared a Final Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) for Segment 8B of the Bayshore Bikeway. The Draft MND was available for a 30-day public review from July 27, 2016 to August 26, 2016. The Final MND and Mitigation and Monitoring Reporting Program for Segment 8B of the Bayshore Bikeway was adopted by the SANDAG Board of Directors on November 18, 2016.
