The project is currently in the final design phase and construction is anticipated to begin in 2024.
Budget and Project Funding
TransNet, the regional half-cent sales tax for transportation administered by SANDAG, is funding the cost of planning, preliminary engineering, environmental analysis, and final design of the Imperial Avenue Bikeway. Construction will be funded by a grant from the state’s Active Transportation Program. The project is part of the $200 million Regional Bike Plan Early Action Program approved by the SANDAG Board of Directors in September 2013.
Construction costs for the Border to Bayshore Bikeway are estimated to be approximately $25,337,000.
