Project Description
The SR 76 Corridor begins at I-5 in the City of Oceanside, Intersects I-15 in North San Diego County and ends at SR 79 in the most northeasterly corner of San Diego County. There are three segments to the project, the west, middle and east. The SR 76 West Segment was completed in 1999 and extends from I-5 and Melrose Drive. In January 2010, construction began on the SR 76 Middle Segment between Melrose Drive and South Mission Road. The SR 76 East Segment is located between South Mission Road and I-15 and is currently in the design and environmental review phases of development. Long Awaited Middle Segment Construction Begins
Construction for the State Route (SR) 76
Middle Project (“Middle Project”) began in January 2010. Once constructed, the
project will reduce traffic congestion and
enhance safety for SR 76 travelers. A groundbreaking event was held on 1/5/10 to celebrate the start of construction. Those in attendance included Oceanside City Councilmember Jack Feller, State Transportation Department Director Randy Iwasaki, Escondido Mayor and SANDAG Chair Lori Holt Pfeiler and Representative Darrell Issa.
