Open House and Public Hearing

SANDAG published a Traffic and Safety Impact Assessment for the project on February 9, 2018. Preparation of this assessment is required before the SANDAG Board of Directors can make a determination that the proposed project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) under Public Resources Code Section 21080.20.5.

SANDAG hosted an open house and public hearing for the Central Avenue Bikeway project on February 26, 2018, where attendees were invited to learn more about the project and provide written and verbal comments. The SANDAG Transportation Committee is anticipated to consider whether the proposed project is exempt from CEQA at its April 20, 2018, meeting. Comments collected at the public hearing and open house, and responses to those comments will be provided to the Transportation Committee for consideration before the April 20, 2018, meeting. Written responses to comments will also be posted on the project website.

Materials from the open house are available below.

NEW: Bikeway Enhancements Questionnaire

As SANDAG moves closer to finalizing the design on bikeways in the North Park and Mid-City areas, we are seeking your input on aesthetic elements that could be included in these projects.

There are several locations with traffic calming features, such as curb extensions and neighborhood traffic circles, where there is an opportunity to add aesthetic elements to help beautify the community and provide a sense of place. The City of San Diego requires project elements that fall within their guidelines of “typical” materials and standard maintenance efforts. All options proposed in this questionnaire are consistent with these requirements.

This questionnaire should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Your input is highly valuable to our planning efforts. Results will be analyzed in aggregate so that individual responses will remain anonymous. Please complete the questionnaire by March 16, 2018. Thank you in advance for your input.
