REMINDER: Overnight Closures Continue on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista This Weekend
Interstate 805 (I-805) will be closed overnight between East Orange Avenue/Olympic Parkway and Telegraph Canyon Road to accommodate the removal of falsework, the temporary supports for bridge construction at East Palomar Street bridge in Chula Vista. Travelers are being urged to avoid the area or use alternate routes.
All I-805 northbound lanes will be closed Sunday night from midnight until Monday morning at 4 a.m. During this time, the northbound East Orange Avenue/Olympic Parkway on-ramp will also be closed. Through northbound and truck traffic will be detoured via northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) at the south end junction of I-805 and I-5 to eastbound State Route 54 (SR 54), connecting back to northbound I-805 via the eastbound SR 54 connector (view detour map). Local traffic will be detoured Olympic Parkway, Brandywine Avenue, Medical Center Drive, and Telegraph Canyon Road (the local detour). Southbound lanes will remain open during this time.
All southbound lanes will be closed Monday night from midnight until Tuesday morning at 5 a.m. During this time, the southbound Telegraph Canyon Road on-ramp will also be closed. Through southbound and truck traffic will be detoured via westbound SR 54, southbound I-5, and eastbound SR 905, connecting back to southbound I-805 via the eastbound SR 905 connector. Local traffic will be detoured via Telegraph Canyon Road, Medical Center Drive, Brandywine Avenue, and Olympic Parkway. Northbound lanes will remain open during this time.
Additional closures might be necessary. Residents adjacent to I-805 at East Palomar Street can expect construction noise and lights overnight during these closures.
