Project Overview
After more than 30 years of successful operation, the San Diego Trolley has completed a sweeping overhaul of its Blue and Orange Lines and freight line facilities. With the $660 million project complete, passengers and freight carriers enjoy more efficient and reliable services.
The project included: raising platforms, replacing old rail and overhead wires, retrofit/replacement of traction power substations, and improving switching, signaling, and crossovers. New low-floor Trolleys and new station amenities were all part of the project to update the system.
The realignment of the Green Line now allows riders to travel from Mission Valley to the Convention Center or PETCO Park without transferring.
