For The SR 76 Middle Project, the existing alternative was selected as the preferred alternative with the signing of the Final EIR/EIS on Nov. 26, 2008. For the SR 76 East project, a range of alternatives is being studied and the impacts of those alternatives will be addressed in the Draft Environmental Document in Spring 2010. The final build alternative will be chosen in conjunction with the participating federal agencies in conformance with NEPA 404 guidance.

The project will be constructed to allow bikes to use the shoulders of the road. The design will incorporate bike friendly features including special grates on drainage inlets.

We have been working with County Park planners for the past two years to coordinate their efforts with the highway effort. We share environmental information and attend project development meetings jointly to ensure that neither project precludes the other.

Funding will come from a mixture of transportation funds including: TransNet, and state and federal highway funds.
